If one or both of your testicles are absent due to a medical condition or surgical removal, a testicular implant can help to improve your appearance and confidence.
During the testicular implant operation, your surgeon will make a cut in the scrotum and insert an implant. The implant is a similar shape and texture as a normal testicle.
The operation is performed under a general anaesthetic and you'll usually be able to return home later the same day. You'll also need to plan time off work to rest and recover. It is important to be realistic about your expectations of a testicular implant. There may be some scarring and it may not to be possible to exactly match the implant with your other testicle. Your consultant will discuss these aspects with you prior to your operation.
All operations carry risks as well as benefits. The chance of complications depends on the type of operation and other factors such as your general health. Your consultant surgeon will explain how the risks apply to you.
